Is Jamaal Tinsley untouchable?

Because of his brush(es?) with the law, is Jamaal Tinsley such an embarrment that teams probably won't touch him now that he's been waived by the Pacers? I saw the news that he had been waived, and I thought, "My team should sign him as a backup PG." Is he too radioactive? I only vaguely know what happened--if I recall, he pulled a gun on someone who bothered him and Stephen Jackson at a nightclub.
