We live in the same dorm, but does he like me? why does he keep doing this?

Okay, so we're both first year university students, and have been flirting since the day we arrived (we've been here three weeks). it's stuff like sitting on each other if he wont move from the seat where i want to sit, playful stuff. but last night we ended up holding hands walking around campus, but we said it was for safety because it was dark and it's kinda a dangerous campus. then he came up to my room to say goodnight and we had a little cuddle on my bed, but then suddenly he got up and left for no apparent reason. he was just suddenly like "im going to bed". then today he came to visit me, and we were lying on my bed and he was stoking my thigh and we were just talking, when suddenly he was like "im going to go study" and went downstairs to his room. am i doing something wrong? does he actually like me?
