Any advice on paying back credit card debt?

Here's the problem. I had a credit card in my moms name. I was making the payments with no problems. Then another card came, and another-blah blah blah.. long story short I have accrued almost $40,000 in debt in my moms name-PLEASE DON'T GIVE THE SHAME SHAME-U CANT SAY ANYTHING I HAVEN'T SAID TO MYSELF A HUNDRED TIMES, AND AM DAMN NEAR ON THE BRINK OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN...My mom knows, and she knows that I am able to find an alternative-please any advice, would b greatly appreciated..Debt consolidation? What about a mortgage on my home that is paid off? Like I said only financial advice--PLEASE!! besides all that Legally-what could happen?
