The inverted gl pyramid is just on top of another small pyramid. Langdon recognised the symbols. The inverted pyramid is the chalice- the ancient symbol of female and the small pyramid is the male. According to the book, the Holy Grail, i.e. Mary Magdalene is buried deep under the small pyramid.
