Tippmann Triumph XT safety?

The safety on my Tippmann triumph XT seems to move a less than a centimeter when I switch from safety to fire and fire to safety. Also the rod (which flows between each side of the gun) sticks out much farther on the saftey side. It worries me because if i just brush the safety with my arm, I can go back into fire mode, and that doesn't seem safe. I want to know if anyone else experiences this, or if its normal and just a really unsafe safety. I do not have my CO2 tank yet, so does it have to be pressurized to work?
